Open Gate Security System to Launch at LCHS November 18
Posted Date: 11/14/25 (2:46 PM)
From LCHS Principal Mrs. Cassie Bridges:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of the Lawrence County School District’s ongoing commitment to maintaining safe and orderly schools, we will begin using a new Open Gate Security System designed to help identify illegal or prohibited items on campus. This system provides a non-invasive, walk-through scanning process that enhances school safety while allowing students and visitors to enter efficiently.
The Open Gate system will launch at Lawrence County High School on Tuesday, November 18th, and will be made available to all schools across the district as needed. We want to ensure that both parents and students are fully informed and prepared for this transition.
To help the scan run smoothly, students should follow these guidelines when approaching the Open Gate system:
- Have laptops, cell phones, eyeglass cases, and any three-ring binders in hand before entering the gate.
- Backpack straps should be worn on both shoulders, allowing the backpack to hang vertically on the back or to be worn across the chest.
- Purses and tote bags should be held in front of the body.
- Students must walk through the scanner one at a time to ensure accurate and efficient screening.
We appreciate your support as we work to make this process as seamless as possible. Our goal is to provide an additional layer of protection for our students, faculty, staff, and guests while minimizing disruption to the daily school routine.
Thank you for your cooperation and for partnering with us to keep our schools safe.
