Community Engagement Council Information Session Coming Soon

Dear Families,
The Mississippi Department of Education recently released its annual district and
school grades. Lawrence County School District received an overall grade of C. The
following schools had a grade of D or F.
• Lawrence County High School, D
• Monticello Elementary School, F
• New Hebron Attendance Center, D
Based on these grades, our district must take specific actions. One requirement is that
we create a Community Engagement Council, or CEC.
We know that our school community has important knowledge, understanding, and
expertise that can support schools. Soon, we will be seeking engaged community
members to serve on our CEC. The CEC is a community-led group that works
towards achieving a group-identified improvement goal.
The district requests your help by attending the upcoming CEC information session
which is tentatively planned for January as well as sharing information about the CEC
with your family, friends, and colleagues.
We hope that you will share your knowledge and expertise in supporting and
improving Lawrence County School District.
